Regional fishers fish at marked schools around the map’s coasts and rivers and sell the catch at a fish counter. Which fish you can catch depends on your Fishing life skill and your rod.
Getting started
Start Fishing, equip the free starter cane rod and pick an available marked fishing school. Its picture shows the method, the catch and the tackle it needs. You can fish at the coastal pier, the riverbanks in Riverbend, Evergreen Hollow and Sunstone, and the northwest coast. Methods vary by spot.
How the work goes
- Stand near the school and start fishing. Casts repeat while you stay in place.
- Not every cast succeeds. Stop or move away to end.
- When the school moves, follow it or pick another suitable school.
- Keep fish for cooking, crafting or trade, or sell them at a pier or supermarket fish counter.
- Open any treasure caskets you recover through Fishing catch.
Progression
The Fishing life skill and a rod of high enough tier unlock each method:
| Fishing skill | Method | Catch |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Float | Coastal perch |
| 15 | Fly | Silver trout |
| 40 | Deep Line | Moonlit eel |
| 75 | Lobster Pot | King lobster |
| 99 | Deep Water | Starfin |
Owning the gear does not skip the skill level. Better rods can improve compatible catches. Rare variants and caskets are always a matter of chance.
Pay and XP
A successful catch gives career XP, Fishing XP and Agility XP. The money comes from selling. Selling, filleting and opening caskets do not repeat the catch XP. Strength does not affect or train from Fishing.
Common problems
- A school is locked. Check the method, your rod and your Fishing level.
- Inventory space. Leave room for a fish and a possible casket, plus new variant item types.

These are calculations from the R51 — Timber in Motion source, not measured play. Each figure repeats one clean cycle with the equipment above already owned, then scales it to an hour. Seller VAT and recurring ingredients or seeds are taken off. Income tax, club tithes, debt repayment, fuel, repairs, gear purchases and breaks for needs are not, and neither are travel delays, mistakes or other players. Treat them as a comparison between levels, not a promise of what an hour of play pays.
